FAQs about roll-on pain relief

What is the right roll-on pain relief for me?

Choosing the right pain relief product depends on your preference and specific needs. If you’re still unsure, your pharmacist can give you advice on which product most suits your needs. Icy Hot® has a range of no-mess roll-on products to choose from, including classic menthol for cooling relief, 4% lidocaine to numb away pain, and nighttime recovery with calming lavender scent.

How does roll-on pain relief work?

Roll-on pain relief uses ingredients that help to soothe or numb pain. Menthol provides a cooling sensation by stimulating cold-sensing nerves.1 Lidocaine numbs pain by blocking electrical impulses that carry pain signals.2

How quickly does roll-on pain relief work?

Menthol-based pain-relief, including Icy Hot® Original, starts working as soon as it comes into contact with the skin. Products that contain topical lidocaine normally start to work within minutes of application, depending on the area of the body it is applied to, the method of application, and the strength of the product.3

Where on my body can I use pain relief roll-on?

Icy Hot® Pain Relief Roll-On products can be used on most areas of the body to help soothe pain. Avoid applying to eyes, mucous membranes, folds of skin, or wounds.

Where can I buy pain relief roll-on?

Pain relief roll-on products, including Icy Hot® Pain Relief Roll-On, can be purchased over-the-counter at your local drug store, or online at Walmart, Target, and Amazon.

What’s the difference between Icy Hot’s pain relief roll-on products?

Icy Hot® has a range of Roll-On Pain Relief products. Choose from:

  • Icy Hot® Original with cooling menthol—that starts working instantly* for sore muscles or joints.
  • Icy Hot® Nighttime recovery with calming lavender—to soothe pain that bothers you during the night.
  • Icy Hot® with Lidocaine containing 4% lidocaine—for long-lasting relief from pain.

What strength of pain relief roll-on should I choose?
